Union City hosts Trailhead Lunch
Union City, PA – The Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development and Union City Borough are co-hosting a trailhead launch and groundbreaking event at the Caflisch/Devereaux Park on Friday, September 13, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. At noon, there will be a ribbon cutting by Erie County Executive Brenton Davis. This groundbreaking will celebrate the trailhead installation and park improvements at Caflisch/Devereaux Park partially funded by a grant from the Erie County Greenways Program.
The trailhead will serve the Union City residents and begin to implement the Erie to Corry Trail Feasibility Study, published in 2023. The Erie to Corry Trail Feasibility Study was produced to extend the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail through Erie County, and this will be the first purpose-built trailhead for that extension. It will also serve the French Creek Trail as outlined in Union City’s French Creek Trail Plan, published in 2022.
The event will be the next step in the development of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail and French Creek Trail, which is a critical regional project to develop the outdoor economy in Erie County. In the morning there will be a walkthrough of the park and improvements. At 12:30 PM there will be a talk on the history of Erie to Pittsburgh Trail hosted by the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail Alliance.
Event Schedule:
11:00 AM – Event Begins
11:15 AM – Park Walkthrough
12:00 PM – Ribbon Cutting – Remarks by County Executive Davis and other dignitaries
12:30 PM – Erie to Pittsburgh Trail Talk
