Erie County Department of Veterans Services Honors Vietnam Veterans

ERIE, PA – Today, the Erie County Department of Veterans Services joins the nation in honoring the 3.4 million military personnel who served in the Republic of South Vietnam or elsewhere in support of the U.S. military operation in Southeast Asia. Their bravery and dedication in defending our country during a challenging time in history have not gone unnoticed. Your service will never be forgotten, and this country will be eternally grateful.

County Executive Brenton Davis, expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “It is an honor to recognize and pay tribute to the Vietnam veterans who selflessly served our nation. Their sacrifices and contributions have shaped our history and deserve the utmost respect and recognition.”

Joe Benacci, Director of Veterans Services for Erie County, emphasized the significance of this day, saying, “As we commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day, we must also remember those who are missing in action and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their commitment to protecting our freedoms will forever be honored and cherished.”

The County Executive further added, “Though long overdue, today we recognize each and every Vietnam veteran who did not receive the proper welcome home they earned anddeserved. Let us never forget their valor and dedication to our country.”

The Erie County Department of Veterans Services encourages community members to take a moment to reflect on the service and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and to extend gratitude to them for their dedication to our nation.
