Grant Award and Check Presentation for Erie County’s In-Home Childcare Mini Grant Program
Erie, PA – Erie County Executive, Brenton Davis, and the Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development invite recipients of the In-Home Childcare Mini Grants to a special check presentation event at Liberty Park. At this event, the County Executive will discuss the positive impact of Erie County’s grant awards and urge all licensed family and group in-home childcare providers to apply for funding through the website eriecountypa.gov.
These grants, made possible by the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery funds awarded to Erie County by the federal government, seek to improve the health and safety of children by funding purchases of approved items for in-home childcare providers. Erie County is awarding a total of $100,000 in mini grants to eligible childcare providers to help relieve financial burden on providers and ultimately provide a safe and healthy childcare environment for all children in Erie County. To date, fourteen grant recipients have used their awards to purchase items such as baby gates, security cameras, baby monitors, sleeping cots, carbon monoxide detectors, child safety locks, first aid kits, changing tables, and more. These awards are positively impacting the lives of approximately 114 children cared for by these providers.
County Executive Davis is committed to making investments in childcare, a true economic development driver, to ensure that parents feel confident in the care their children are being provided as they enter or return to the workforce. Additionally, Erie County is accepting applications for a $400,000 fund for building repairs for qualified in-home childcare facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children.
