Erie, PA – The Friends of the Erie County Library resume in-person book sales this weekend with the annual Mystery and Fiction Book Sale, taking place in the Admiral Room on the Blasco Library campus.

Readers can shop the sale on the following days and times:

  • Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Following the pandemic-related cancellation of local favorite “The Great American Book Sale,” the Friends group has relied on sales from their gift shop, Bayfront Bookshelf, to sustain operations. This sale will feature gently used, recently released mystery and fiction books.

Sale capacity is limited to nine patrons, and time limits will be enforced should the sale reach capacity. All patrons entering library facilities are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing.

As with all Friends of the Erie County Library book sales, the proceeds are used to directly fund library programming. Most recently, the Friends funded over 400 “Book Boxes” – a leveled take-home kit for young readers that allows library programming to occur in the safety of each family’s home – deployed by the Erie County Public Library children’s department.
