Erie County reports 7 new positive cases of COVID-19 for cumulative total of 747

Erie, PA – County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Erie County Department of Health announce seven new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Erie County as of 12:01 a.m. on July 15.
The total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County is 747, with 624 recovered cases, 108 active cases, 14,027 negatives and 15 deaths.
Updated data can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page on eriecountypa.gov.
Of the cumulative cases, 59% are female and 41% are male. The breakdown of cases by race/ethnicity is as follows:
- 55% White residents
- 30% African American/Black residents
- 5% Asian residents
- 2% Other
- 7% Unknown
Ten percent of the cases are Hispanic, of any race; 82% are not Hispanic; and 8% are unknown.
The age breakdown of the cumulative cases looks like this:
- 4% are ages 0-4
- 2% are ages 5-9
- 6% are ages 10-18
- 14% are ages 19-24
- 41% are ages 25-49
- 20% are ages 50-64
- 13% are ages 65 and older

Melissa Lyon, director of the Erie County Department of Health, joined the County Executive today to provide an update on testing and the travel quarantine.
Dr. Chris Clark, president and CEO of AHN Saint Vincent Hospital, and Emily Shears, director of infection prevention, quality improvement, regulatory & accreditation services at UPMC Hamot, also provided updates on testing and hospitalizations.
Consistent with Wednesday updates, the County Executive reminds everyone to complete the 2020 Census.
Erie County is at 70% completion, and the City of Erie is at 61%. Residents can visit census.gov or call 844-330-2020 to complete the census.
Census workers will be available to help at Gridley Park on Liberty St. today from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., and on Friday they will be in front of the Erie County Courthouse from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Dahlkemper reminds everyone that Census 2020 results will help determine how federal dollars flow into the community each year.
