Erie County reports 66 new positive cases of COVID-19; cumulative case total is 15,172; 27 additional deaths

Erie, PA – County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper and Erie County Department of Health announce 66 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 27 additional deaths have been reported in Erie County as of 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The total cumulative cases of COVID-19 in Erie County is 15,172, with 392 deaths (reported in NEDSS).

This information can be found on the chart on the “Positive Cases in Erie County” page at eriecountypa.gov.

The following information refers to the 27 deaths reported in this morning’s death count:

  • All deaths reported in today’s count are not just from yesterday. There can be a considerable lag in the entering of deaths into NEDSS. The 27 deaths reported today range from 01/03/2021-01/18/21.
  • Age ranges of the deaths are from 53 to 94.
  • We identified two deaths from Albion State Correctional Institution.
  • We have identified eight residents from long-term care facilities.

All residents are reminded to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth when near anyone who does not live inside their home, keep a 6-foot distance from others, stay home as much as possible – and definitely when feeling ill, wash hands frequently, and limit activities outside of their homes.
