Erie, PA – Erie County Council Chairman André R. Horton has teamed with the Erie County Court of Common Pleas and Erie County Probation to relaunch Energize Erie, a judicial investment program focused on providing workforce training, financial literacy, mentoring and other life skills to juveniles who are currently on a court-ordered supervision.
The program will be administered by EJay Fyke, who has been named executive director. Fyke has past experiences working on community projects such as Empower Erie, Erie PAL, and others.
“Energize Erie reflects the continued mission of the courts to proactively reach out to our community and have a positive impact on our youth through various educational programs and training opportunities,” said President Judge John J. Trucilla. “The court has strived to be viewed in a positive light and not merely as punitive. As President Judge it has been an honor to partner with County Councilman André Horton, Adult Probation (Paul Markiewicz), and EJay Fyke in continuing the judicial reinvestment program started five years ago. It is with great optimism that this noble mission will be supported and continue well into the future.”
“On behalf of the Erie County Adult Probation/Parole Department as part of the Erie County Court of Common Pleas, we are enthused and eager to be a part of the relaunch of Energize Erie,” said Paul A. Markiewicz, director of Erie County Adult Probation/Parole. “We are very much interested in being a part of providing valuable lessons, opportunities and positive influences to the youth of Erie County.”
Energize Erie is scheduled to host its first cohort in the spring of 2021. Contributions are currently being accepted. To participate or become a sponsor of the program, please contact EJay Fyke at 814-566-8331 or ejay@energizeerie.com.
