Erie County’s Revenue and Tax Claim Office collects all delinquent taxes for Erie County; for the City of Erie and other municipalities; and for school districts in the county.
The Revenue and Tax Claim Bureau, which is one of four divisions in the Erie County Department of Finance has two functions:
- The Revenue Bureau is responsible for issuing various state and county licenses, payment of witness fees, and receipting/depositing of all monies received throughout the various County Departments.
- The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for recording and collecting all delinquent property taxes throughout Erie County. When funds are collected, they are then disbursed on a monthly basis to each of the municipalities, boroughs, townships and school districts throughout the County. The Tax Claim Bureau is also charged with conducting the various tax sales in accordance with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Tax Sale Laws.
