The Erie County Sheriff’s Office provides services and programs that maintain safety and provide education for all who live in the community, working with all law enforcement officials within the county to provide a safer environment for the citizens we serve.
A person calling himself Tim McMahon has been contacting member of the community pretending to be a deputy Sheriff here in Erie County.
McMahon is telling people that he is going to issue citations for Failure to Appear in court and also Contempt citations unless money is paid to him. He also gives out FALSE citation numbers to encourage compliance with his attempt to scam people out of their money.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office does NOT employ anybody with that name. The Sheriff’s Office will NEVER contact any member of the public requesting money to avoid arrest or have a citation issued.
THIS IS A SCAM.
If you receive a call from anyone regarding a warrant from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, please call Captain Campanelli at 814-451-6495 for verification.
