SCAM ALERT:
A person calling himself Tim McMahon has been contacting member of the community pretending to be a deputy Sheriff here in Erie County.
McMahon is telling people that he is going to issue citations for Failure to Appear in court and also Contempt citations unless money is paid to him. He also gives out FALSE citation numbers to encourage compliance with his attempt to scam people out of their money.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office does NOT employ anybody with that name. The Sheriff’s Office will NEVER contact any member of the public requesting money to avoid arrest or have a citation issued.
THIS IS A SCAM.
