Food Safety Manager Certification

 

The Food Safety Manager Certification class by the Erie County Department of Health prepares food handlers to take the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals Certification Exam.

Pennsylvania requires that most retail food facilities employ at least one certified food employee accredited by a nationally recognized food safety program.

Topics Include

  • Laws and Regulations
  • Updates to Pennsylvania Food Code
  • Causes and Prevention of foodborne illness
  • Proper methods for thawing, cooking, cooling and reheating
  • Hand washing and hygiene
  • Sanitation

The exam is done after the class. Those who pass the exam will receive the Food Safety Manager Certificate, which is valid for 5 years.

In Person Classes

Location – Hirt Auditorium, Blasco Library, 160 E. Front St., Erie
Day 1 – Check in – 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch on your own.
Day 2 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the exam immediately following the class.
Exam Only – Check in at 12:00 p.m.
