The role of the Erie County Department of Health in the area of HIV/AIDS is to:
- Encourage universal screening for HIV infection to elicit early detection.
- Provide HIV antibody testing through clinical services and outreach.
- Educate clients who receive testing about HIV transmission and risk reduction.
- Provide HIV-positive persons with partner services, referrals to medical care and case management.
