A regional task force approach involving local, county, state and federal agencies was formed to combat gun violence and illegal firearm possession in Erie County. The Erie Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, Millcreek Township Police Department, Erie FBI Office, Erie ATF Office, State Parole, State Attorney General’s Office, Erie County Adult and Juvenile Probation, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office have joined forces to tackle gun violence in the Erie area.
The plan is to disrupt the illegal supply of firearms, reduce illegal gun possession and target known gun offenders by the use of this multi-agency problem-solving effort.
Professional law enforcement officers must work hand-in-hand with the public to fight crime. We depend heavily on your assistance in reporting crimes involving a firearm. To report an illegal handgun or to have a firearm removed from a property, you can contact the Gun Task Force at tmanges@eriecountypa.gov
If the investigation results in an arrest and seizure of a gun, the citizen providing the information is eligible for a cash reward.
