Elections and Voting
Erie County Council oversees the Conduct of Elections Bureau and the Voter Registration Office.
The Conduct of Elections Bureau coordinates the nominating petition process for placing candidates on the ballot. The office also creates the county’s official ballot, and programs and maintains voting machines. On Election Day, the office oversees voting at 150 precincts across the county and tallies the votes.
The Voter Registration Office maintains the county’s voter registration list, as well as many other duties that surround primary and general elections.
Human Relations Commission
The Erie County Human Relations Commission, which is overseen by Erie County Council, works to eliminate discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations.
The Human Relations Commission investigates claims of unlawful discrimination to ensure the equal opportunities for all persons.
