Prothonotary (Civil Records)

The Prothonotary is the clerk of the civil division of the Court of Common Pleas.

The records filed and maintained for the Court and the public by the Prothonotary generally include all civil cases, district judge appeals, divorces, custody cases, Protection From Abuse cases, judgments, government liens, mechanics lien waivers, and satisfactions of judgments.

Requesting Records

Most recent records are available electronically as scanned images, and older records are stored in book form or on microfilm. Requests for information regarding these records should be directed to the Prothonotary’s office.

You can download the current fee schedule for filings with the Erie County Prothonotary.

The Infocon County Access System is a fee-based subscriber service that provides Internet access to most public records from the Prothonotary’s office.
