ERIE COUNTY TO USE COMMUNITY WORKS PROGRAM TO AID IN POST-STORM RECOVERY
ERIE, PA – Erie County Executive Brenton Davis has announced the Community Works Program, which utilizes low-risk, pre-cleared inmates from the Erie County Prison to assist with critical community cleanup efforts following the recent massive lake-effect snowstorm.
The program’s current focus is on clearing snow from fire hydrants throughout the county, ensuring accessibility for first responders and enhancing public safety in the aftermath of the storm.
“Community safety is our top priority, especially after extreme weather events,” said County Executive Brenton Davis. “The Community Works Program not only helps us recover from this unprecedented storm but also provides a constructive way for these individuals to contribute to the community.”
The County is committed to supporting this program and exploring ways to expand its scope to other community needs in the future.
