Erie, PA – The Erie County Board of Elections has canceled Poll Worker Training scheduled for next week.
All poll workers previously contacted by letter or phone call about training at the Erie County Convention Center should stay home in accordance with temporary Erie County and Commonwealth regulations.
Some workers may have been told as late as yesterday that training was taking place. Any poll worker who is unsure may call the Council Office at 451-6303, or email dsmith@eriecountypa.gov or cberg@eriecountypa.gov .
Election Board Chairman Carl Anderson III: “We are very concerned for the safety of our poll workers and our Elections Staff. We can no longer hold classes given the State of Emergency. It’s our continued belief the Primary will be postponed. In order to conduct a fair and informed election we need trained workers and informed voters. Our ability to do either, given the realities of the COVID-19 Disease, has become compromised.”
Erie County will contact Poll Workers with alternative dates when those are determined.
The Pennsylvania Primary is still currently scheduled for April 28 but that may change given the problems all counties are experiencing retaining poll workers and voting locations.
