Updates on COVID-19 Public Health Services
Erie, PA — COVID-19 public health services are still available to the public even if the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration expired in May.
Vaccines and boosters
COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available at LECOM Center for Health and Aging. The schedule is now Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The benefit of staying up to date with vaccination and boosters, even for those who have had COVID-19, is that it helps the body prevent severe illness and lessens the likelihood of needing hospitalization. Boosters extend the effectiveness of vaccines against COVID-19 and help protect against variants.
For other local vaccination sites, text ZIP Code to 438829, visit vaccines.gov or call 1-800-232-0233.
Community centers
Starting July, Booker T. Washington Center, Martin Luther King Center and Quality of Life Learning Center will no longer offer COVID-19 PCR testing.
To continue providing relevant public health services, the centers will still have community health workers who can help answer questions about COVID-19 vaccinations as well as questions about long covid.
